7. Tomas Rosicky

7. Tomas Rosicky

Czech captain Tomas Rosicky finished the 2011/12 season in some of the best form of his career.

The playmaker had been in and out of the side since spending more than 18 months on the sidelines between February 2008 and September 2009, but was back to his brilliant best in the second half of last term.

Playing as the furthest forward in a midfield three, he put in a thrilling performance in February’s 5-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur, scoring the crucial third goal in that game. He came up with another goal, and an influential display, in the 3-0 win over AC Milan - and his promptings continued to set the tempo as Arsenal charged into a Champions League position.

Impeccable vision, accurate passing and sharp turns of pace have long been strong suits of this exciting midfielder, who signed a new contract in March and was came third in the supporters’ Player of the Season poll at the end of the campaign.

Tomas passed the 150-appearance mark for Arsenal last season - a figure reached in his sixth term at the Club. He joined from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2007, having won the Bundesliga and playing in the UEFA Cup final after arriving there from Sparta Prague. He led his country into Euro 2012, but only featured in two of their games due to a tendon injury.
